My favorites (supplies n' such edition)

We all have a favorite something, whether it be a favorite flavor of potato chip or a favorite old T-shirt, and if you are a crafter, you are automatically going to have favorite yarns, patterns, hook or needle sizes, stitches, etc... If you are new to crafting, maybe you haven't had much of a chance to adventure into the mesmerizing world of yarn yet, so don't let the overwhelming amounts of brands and hook sizes frighten you.

Here are some of my favorite supplies and things with links (though you probably won't be able to buy them at said link for a reasonable price, thanks to COVID 19):

RED HEART Hygge Yarn

Favorite color of this yarn: Either Powder pink, or Sterling. All the colors are beautiful though!

Hygge yarn is a bullky (5) yarn that is soft as a baby squirrel ( so really soft) (and yes, I have touched a baby squirrel so I do know). It's fuzzy and cozy, great for bulky sweaters, cowls or scarves, though really you could do almost anything with it. :)

YARNSPIRATIONS Caron Simply Soft Yarn

Favorite color: White or black (plain and simple)

Caron Simply Soft is a medium (4) yarn that is soft to the touch and GREAT for amigurumi projects, or any other little toy you want to make. It is also good for light sweaters and shawls.

LION BRAND HomeSpun yarn

No favorite color

Homespun is pretty much an all purpose bulky yarn. You can make hats, scarves, mittens, blankets, sweaters, you name it. It is soft and all crinkly like poodle (the type of dog) fur.

Now on to the tools!

Crochet

If you want to buy fancy wooden or squishy handled hooks and such, that is totally fine, but if you are a beginner who's funds are restricted then these are what I would recommend!

Vidillo Crochet hooks

This 14 piece set contains hooks sized 2.mm, to 10.mm, so perfect for any beginner's project.

Some extra things you might need:

Safety eyes

Stitch markers

Knittting

They say knitting is a little harder than crochet, but I think that really depends on you. If you are the knitting type, then here is a great line up of things that will help you along in your knitting journey. I know it helped my on mine!

Needles

Lily Sugar and Cream Cotton yarn

Cotton is a great yarn for beginners because it stays on the needle better than acrylic or any other synthetic or fuzzy yarn; synthetic being softer tends to be more slippery. It's better to have a stiffer, coarser yarn when you are first learning to knit in my opinion.

Well, that's about all for this post. There will be a second part containing my favorite patterns and where to find them.

Until then!
